Daniel Hicks '18 is majoring in systems engineering with a minor in mathematics. A proud 49er, Daniel has a strong appreciation for the breadth of diversity on campus and enjoys that the University is always striving to improve. It, along with wealth of opportunities and camaraderie between the students, solidified Daniel's decision to become a Levine Scholar. "Being a Levine Scholar means that you are part of something bigger than just yourself, and that is an amazing privilege and responsibility." The broader connection to the city of Charlotte is also important to Daniel. "The city affords students so many opportunities for cultural, work and social experiences.”
An alum of UNC Charlotte's Engineering Leadership Academy, Daniel is also an active member of the Society of Systems Engineers. He spent a summer studying in Paris and volunteers as a tutor at a local branch of the public library.
