Daniel Hicks, of Kannapolis, NC, graduated in May 2018 with a degree in Systems Engineering and a minor in Mathematics. Upon graduation, Daniel will begin working for Deloitte Consulting as a Business Technology Analyst. At Deloitte, he hopes to broaden his skills and knowledge base with the eventual goal of returning to school for graduate studies. As part of the Levine Scholars Program, Daniel interned with Discovery Place and KaVo Kerr. He also studied abroad in Paris, France where he participated in a program related to art and architecture. About his experience as a Levine Scholar, Daniel said, “When you’ve been a part of this program, you are particularly aware of the impact that an individual can have because of the profound investment that has been made in you. That awareness is powerful because it reminds me to always ask myself how my actions will impact others.” During his time at UNC Charlotte Daniel participated in the Engineering Leadership Academy, where he and his peers created a mentorship program for students interested in STEM fields at a local high school. “It was incredible to see that my experiences at UNC Charlotte could be useful to students who are interested in STEM. I really think it’s important to be a mentor in some capacity at every stage in life.”
