Isabella Calpakis

Hometown:
Manhasset, NY

Isabella Calpakis ’17 is an economics and communication studies major with a minor in public health. Although she came to Niner Nation from New York, she has adapted to Southern life and come to call UNC Charlotte her home. After meeting the alumni class of 2014, Isabella knew that this was a program that she wanted to join. “The Levine Scholars Program will undeniably change your life – it will challenge you, refine you, support you, and most of all, make you the best version of yourself. At any other university in the world, you can be a number; however, here, you will be a peer, a mentor and a respected scholar.”

Isabella served as the Internal Director for Charlotte Dance Marathon and was their top fundraiser. She co-founded and leads the Orthodox Christian Fellowship on campus and is a member of the Business Honors Program and Emerging Leaders. Isabella has interned with Make-A-Wish Foundation and completed study abroad programs in Cyprus and South Africa. “After spending five months in Cyprus and traveling throughout Europe, I traveled to South Africa with the Levine Scholars Program. These eight months proved to be the best of my college career. I learned that the most important lessons are not taught in a classroom. Rather, they must be learned through experience and having a diverse global perspective.”
