Katie Finch '18 is an international business major with minors in French, women’s and gender studies, children’s literature and children’s studies. The passion Katie saw in the UNC Charlotte community and Levine Scholars Program solidified her decision to enroll, and she has been excited to take advantage of the many opportunities for civic engagement the scholarship provides.
Katie co-founded Tan Kap Vini (a Haitian Créole saying that translates to “looking into the future") in the spring of 2015 after volunteering at a children's home in Haiti. Tan Kap Vini (TKV) seeks to better serve at-risk and high poverty children and families in the Charlotte community through initiatives such as tutoring programs and foster parent trainings. Katie currently serves as the president of TKV and is also a member of the Business Honors Program and Charlotte Dance Marathon. Katie spent a summer in Nepal interning with Wine to Water and currently serves on the organization's advisory board. She also spent a semester studying in Paris.
