The close-knit community Larry Lardieri felt among the Levine Scholars during Finalist Program brought the Asheville, NC native to UNC Charlotte. "I appreciate the diverse backgrounds of the students here and enjoy being able to meet people from around the world." He also appreciates that there is much more to Charlotte than just the University.
The mechanical engineering major was awarded the Freshman Writing Award for a piece on the Italian American experience and spent a summer in Paris and Toulouse studying arts and architecture. He has served as an undergraduate research assistant and is a regular volunteer at Ronald McDonald House.
Larry attributes the connections he has made with upperclassmen scholars and NOLS with enriching his undergraduate experience. “NOLS taught me patience with the uncontrollable aspects of the world as well as with myself. This lesson has helped me stay focused on my goals and to be persistent in my journey to reach them.”
