The summer experiences available to Levine Scholars initially attracted Matthew Lowry to the program. In fact, the Hickory, NC native cites participating in an archeological dig in Jerusalem, Israel as one of his favorite college experiences. While Matthew loves all that a growing city like Charlotte offers, being centrally located to the beach and mountains made UNC Charlotte even more attractive.
A true finance major, Matthew views being a Levine Scholar as an investment. "We are students into whom much is being invested. As investments, it is our job to create a return on that investment and pay dividends back to our fellow students, campus, and community. As we mature over time, we should be able to invest back into others as we have been invested into ourselves.”
Matthew stays active on campus through his involvement with Charlotte Dance Marathon, the Business Honors Program, Tan Kap Vini, LEAD Team, Stock Market Club, and the Financial Management Association. As part of the Deloitte Tax Team, his won second place in a regional case study competition.
